An On-Chain Public Waste Management Company - transforming waste management into wealth creation through a transparent blockchain-powered gig economy platform.
Why are you participating for Based India?
Aquari is participating in Based India because our platform is uniquely positioned to address critical environmental challenges in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in waste management. India's rapid urbanization and growing population have led to significant waste management issues, creating an urgent need for innovative solutions.
Our blockchain-powered gig economy model for environmental conservation aligns perfectly with India's tech-savvy workforce and entrepreneurial spirit. By tokenizing environmental impact and turning waste management into a profitable venture, Aquari can mobilize a large, motivated workforce to tackle India's environmental challenges.
Moreover, India's diverse and densely populated urban areas provide an ideal testing ground for our decentralized waste management system. Success in India would not only validate our model but also create a blueprint for addressing similar challenges in other developing nations.
By building on Base, we can leverage its scalability and low transaction costs, which are crucial for a project targeting mass adoption in a price-sensitive market like India. This hackathon gives us the opportunity to refine our solution for the Indian context and connect with potential partners and supporters in the local ecosystem.
Lastly, and importantly, Aquari was already in the process of migrating from BNB Chain to Base as our main native chain. While we initially chose BNB Chain in 2021 due to its low gas costs, it's now 2024, and Base offers even lower fees. This cost-efficiency is crucial for our model, especially when deploying to price-sensitive markets like India.
Base's lower transaction costs allow us to operate more efficiently, enabling micro-transactions that are essential for our gig economy model. This makes it economically viable for workers to participate in smaller clean-up tasks and for users to make frequent, small contributions.
What challenges are you focusing on?
We are focusing on tackling the everlasting problem that philanthropy as a societal concept was built and predicated upon a lie... the lie that donations as a concept actually exist...
----------------------> EX: The lie is the idea that it is possible for two parties to engage in a monetary exchange in which value is not being transferred at the same time. The concept that a donation is "free"
-To give scale to this problem the current non-profit sector which accounts for roughly 2% of US GDP is run and entirely detached from traditional market forces leading to severe capital mis-allocation.
-Civilization is built on markets. When all other existing industries on earth currently succeed due to use of market forces. It becomes obvious that the inefficiency present in the Non-Profit sector is not coincidental.... but due to lack of a market based approach.
-Volunteers are currently unpaid laborers and donors are currently unpaid investors. Since money is a proxy for value itself, we have effectively created a parallel economy in which capital is sent into a value destroying black hole subsidized by government tax write offs.
We aim to solve these problems by leveraging blockchain to turn volunteers into gig-economy workers and tokenizing the value of their labor contributions to allow for donors to become investors in said activities so they may turn a profit and can help fix this problem by creating incentive.
We believe that by attaching these market forces to environmental cleanups we can help India & Pakistan coordinate its population in a decentralized manner to solve its waste management problems once and for all and have its citizens earn a living from solving them.
How does your submission address this challenge?
Aquari is an on-chain environmental conservation organization that takes the form of a gamified gig-economy consumer app. Our project addresses the challenges in the following ways:
Tokenizing Value Creation: We quantify and tokenize the psychological value of doing good, creating a tangible asset from environmental impact.
Transforming Volunteerism: We convert non-profit volunteers into paid gig-economy workers, providing fair compensation for impact labor.
Revolutionizing Donations: We turn donors into investors, allowing them to profit from the value they help create.
Decentralized Marketing: We transform supporters into a decentralized affiliate marketing force, amplifying our reach and impact.
Government Partnerships: We aim to secure government contracts and tenders, offering a decentralized labor coordination platform. This allows governments to allocate funds directly to citizens, incentivizing them to clean up their environment instead of relying on centralized waste management companies that may not use funds in the public's best interest.
Our platform attaches market-based profit incentives to environmental conservation capital allocation and labor participation. By calculating the true price of individual impact and allowing this value to change dynamically, we enable users to earn money by helping the environment. This model not only addresses current environmental challenges but also provides a scalable, transparent, and efficient solution for governments to engage citizens in maintaining cleaner communities.
Challenges I ran into
One of the most significant challenges we faced was managing the overwhelming interest in our platform. It turns out that when you offer to pay people for cleaning up their environment, the response is tremendous. This presented both an exciting opportunity and a logistical hurdle.
Overwhelming Demand
We were inundated with sign-ups from eager participants wanting to join our environmental cleanup efforts. While this validated our model, it also created coordination challenges we hadn't anticipated at such an early stage.
Coordination Complexity
Organizing large groups of people for cleanups proved to be a complex task. We needed to ensure efficient distribution of tasks, fair allocation of rewards, and maintain the quality of work across all participants.
Our Solution:
Gamification and Squad System
To address these challenges, we're developing a new cleanup user interface with gamification elements:
Squad System: We're dividing participants into smaller, manageable squads. This allows for better coordination and creates a sense of teamwork.
Scoring Mechanism: We're implementing a scoring system for cleanups. This not only motivates participants but also helps us track and reward high-performing individuals and teams.
Leaderboards: By introducing leaderboards, we're fostering healthy competition among squads and individuals, driving better performance and engagement.
Task Assignment: The new interface will allow for more efficient task assignment, ensuring a fair distribution of work and rewards.
This gamified approach is helping us manage the logistics of large-scale participation while keeping our community engaged and motivated. It's turning a challenge into an opportunity to make our platform more engaging and effective.
Additional Features
While our project predates the Buildathon, we've used this opportunity to accelerate our development roadmap and integrate new features that enhance our platform's functionality on Base. Here are the key additions:
Base Migration: We're excited to announce that our migration to Base as our main chain will be 100% completed by the end of November 2024. This transition from BNB Chain to Base will provide lower gas fees, crucial for our operations in developing countries, and give us easier access to expand our traction in the USA, my home market.
Onboarding Laborers and Environmentalists: Individuals who wish to help our cause onto crypto and providing them to benefit financially for generating value for society.
Mobile App Development: In Q4 2024, we plan to release native iOS and Android apps for our platform. These apps will significantly enhance user experience and accessibility, allowing more people to participate in our environmental conservation efforts.
Bluetooth Coordination: Our upcoming mobile apps will leverage Bluetooth technology to enable phones to communicate directly with each other. This feature will greatly improve our ability to coordinate cleanups and verify attendance, enhancing the efficiency and transparency of our operations.
Enhanced Gamification: We've further developed our gamification features, including a more robust squad system and dynamic leaderboards, to better manage and motivate our growing user base.
Cheer Project
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
