Crypto Charity Platform

Transparent and secure crypto donations, powered by blockchain.

Why are you participating for Based India?

I am participating in Based India to create a platform that leverages blockchain technology to address the lack of transparency in charitable donations. In India, where the culture of giving is strong, many people are concerned about how their donations are being used. By using Base, I want to build a secure and transparent way for people to donate cryptocurrency, where every transaction is recorded and easily tracked on the blockchain. This will ensure that donations reach those in need and encourage trust between donors and charitable organizations.

What challenges are you focusing on?

The primary challenges this project addresses are:

Transparency in Donations: Many people hesitate to donate because they cannot be sure where their funds go. This platform makes donation records visible on the blockchain, ensuring full transparency.
Trust Issues with Charities: Blockchain technology can help reduce fraud and misuse of funds, encouraging people to donate more confidently.
Global Access: Using cryptocurrencies, the platform can accept donations from anywhere in the world, allowing international donors to contribute easily to Indian charities.

How does your submission address this challenge?

My project solves these challenges by creating a decentralized platform where users can:

Connect their wallets through MetaMask.
Donate Ether directly to registered charity wallet addresses.
Track their donations on the Ethereum blockchain for full transparency. By providing real-time data on donations and how they are used, the platform ensures that charities remain accountable. It also reduces transaction fees and eliminates intermediaries, allowing more funds to go directly to the cause.

Challenges I ran into

One of the major technical challenges I faced was integrating MetaMask and Web3.js for wallet connectivity and handling Ether transactions. Ensuring a smooth user experience during wallet connection was crucial, and debugging transaction errors took time. Another challenge was choosing how to display and organize the list of charities on the frontend, to make the selection process easy for users.

Non-technical challenges included researching which Indian charities would be interested in accepting cryptocurrency donations and figuring out how to handle potential regulatory issues around crypto donations in India.

Additional Features

Since the project was built specifically for the Buildathon, there were no prior features. However, during the Buildathon, I added:

User-friendly Interface: A simple, easy-to-navigate UI to make it accessible for non-technical users.
Multi-charity Support: Allowing users to choose from a variety of charities and donate to the cause they care about most.
Real-time Transaction Feedback: Displaying transaction success or failure messages instantly to the user.

Cheer Project

Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
