Token Balance Checker
A simple DApp to view your ERC20 token balance effortlessly.
Why are you participating for Based India?
I am participating in Based India to contribute to the growing blockchain ecosystem in the region. With a keen interest in cryptocurrency and decentralized technologies, I believe this hackathon provides an excellent platform to connect with like-minded developers and innovators. Additionally, I want to empower individuals in India to manage their digital assets effectively, promoting financial literacy and inclusion in the ever-evolving crypto landscape.
What challenges are you focusing on?
In our community, many individuals are new to cryptocurrency and may find it challenging to understand and track their token holdings. This lack of knowledge can lead to missed opportunities and a reluctance to engage with blockchain technology. By providing a user-friendly interface to check token balances, I aim to demystify the process and encourage more people to explore the benefits of digital assets.
How does your submission address this challenge?
The Token Balance Checker allows users to connect their wallets and easily view their ERC20 token balances. By simplifying access to critical information about digital assets, the project promotes greater transparency and encourages users to take control of their finances. This tool has the potential to educate users about blockchain technology and empower them to engage more actively with the crypto economy.
Challenges I ran into
During the development of the Token Balance Checker, I encountered several challenges:
Integration with Web3: Initially, I faced difficulties connecting the app with MetaMask and fetching the token balance. After researching and experimenting with various approaches, I found that using ethers.js simplified the process significantly.
Error Handling: Implementing robust error handling was crucial to ensure users received clear feedback if their wallet was not connected or if the token contract address was incorrect. I addressed this by adding user-friendly messages to guide them through potential issues.
Additional Features
While the core functionality of checking token balances was implemented prior to the hackathon, I added the following features during the event:
Refresh Button: A feature allowing users to refresh their balance with a single click.
Error Messaging: Improved user feedback with clear error messages for better user experience.
Cheer Project
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
